Recording Consent
SOP for creating and reviewing a consent record from the current Consent Management screens in the VerityLaw dashboard.
Recording Consent
This page shows you how to capture a consent record and then review it in the consent register.
Product: VerityLaw
Module: Privacy - Consent
Role: Information Officer, privacy operator, administrator
Difficulty: Beginner
Time: 5 to 10 minutes
Last Updated: 2026-03-10
Version: Current repo baseline
Before You Start
- Sign in to the dashboard.
- Confirm you are working for the correct organisation.
- Have the data subject details and consent evidence path ready if you need them.
What is this task?
This task creates a consent record under the current Consent Management workflow. The create screen is a full form, and the list page is the follow-up review screen.
When do you use this?
Use this task when you need to document that a data subject gave consent for a stated purpose. If the consent already exists in the register, edit or review the existing record instead of creating a duplicate.
Where do you find it?
Start from: /dashboard/privacy/consent
Create route: /dashboard/privacy/consent/new
Button on list page: New Record
Review route after save: /dashboard/privacy/consent
How to record the consent
- Open
/dashboard/privacy/consent. - Click New Record.
- In Data Subject Details, complete:
- Name. This is required.
- Email if you have it.
- ID Number if you have it.
- In Consent Details, complete:
- Purpose. This is required.
- Consent Date. This is required.
- Method if you want to record how consent was obtained.
- Evidence Path if you want to store the file path or document path.
- Expires At if the consent has an end date.
- Click Create Record.
- Wait for the app to return you to
/dashboard/privacy/consent. - Confirm the new record appears in the consent table.
What should you verify on the list page?
The current Consent Management page is the review and follow-up screen. Confirm the saved record appears with the right:
- Data Subject
- Organisation
- Purpose
- Status
- Method
- Date
The list page also exposes Edit, Withdraw, and Delete actions for saved records.
What if something looks wrong?
"I need to attach a signed file"
Why this happens: The current form asks for Evidence Path as text. It does not expose a file-upload control.
Fix: Enter the path or location reference you use internally, then store the file through your normal document process.
"I need to mark the consent as withdrawn"
Why this happens: Withdrawal is not part of the create form.
Fix: Save the record first, then use Withdraw from the consent list if that action is available for the record.
