Logging a DSAR
SOP for creating a Data Subject Access Request and reviewing it in the current DSAR Management register.
Logging a DSAR
This page shows you how to submit a new data subject request and then review it in the DSAR register.
Product: VerityLaw
Module: Privacy - DSAR
Role: Information Officer, privacy operator, administrator
Difficulty: Beginner
Time: 5 to 10 minutes
Last Updated: 2026-03-10
Version: Current repo baseline
Before You Start
- Sign in to the dashboard.
- Confirm the request belongs to the correct organisation.
- Have the data subject details and request description ready.
What is this task?
This task creates a new DSAR record. The current create screen captures the request basics, and the list page is where you review status, SLA timing, and assignment.
When do you use this?
Use this task when a data subject submits an access, correction, deletion, or objection request that must be tracked formally.
Where do you find it?
Start from: /dashboard/privacy/dsr
Create route: /dashboard/privacy/dsr/new
Button on list page: New DSAR
Review route after save: /dashboard/privacy/dsr
How to log the DSAR
- Open
/dashboard/privacy/dsr. - Click New DSAR.
- In Request Type, choose one of the visible options:
- Access Request
- Correction Request
- Deletion Request
- Objection to Processing
- Enter Data Subject Name. This is required.
- Enter Data Subject Email if you have it.
- Enter Data Subject ID Number if you have it.
- Enter Description. This is required.
- Click Submit DSAR.
- Wait for the app to return you to
/dashboard/privacy/dsr. - Confirm the request appears in the All Requests table.
What should you verify on the list page?
The current DSAR Management page is the operational follow-up screen. Confirm the new request shows the right:
- Reference
- Data Subject
- Type
- Status
- SLA Due Date
- Assigned To
The reference is generated automatically when the request is created. The list also calculates an SLA date and shows an On Track, Due Soon, or Overdue badge.
What if something looks wrong?
"I need to assign the request or add response notes"
Why this happens: The create form only captures the initial request details.
Fix: Save the request first, then use the Edit action from the DSAR list.
"I expected a case-link field"
Why this happens: The current new-request form does not expose case linking.
Fix: Record the request with the available fields and use the follow-up workflow that exists in your environment after the record is created.
