Creating a User

This page shows you how to add a user account using the current Users workflow in VerityLaw.

Before You Start

  • Sign in to the dashboard with permission to manage users.
  • Confirm the person does not already have a user account.
  • Decide the role before you open the form.

What is this task?

This task creates a user record from the current New User form and then returns you to the Users list for review.

When do you use this?

Use this task when a staff member needs a VerityLaw account in the current organisation.

Where do you find it?

Start from: /dashboard/admin/users
Create route: /dashboard/admin/users/new
Button on list page: New User
Review route after save: /dashboard/admin/users

How to create the user

  1. Open /dashboard/admin/users.
  2. Click New User.
  3. Enter Full Name.
  4. Enter Email.
  5. Choose Role from the visible options:
    • Admin
    • Lawyer
    • Paralegal
    • Clerk
    • Accountant
    • Viewer
  6. Enter Password. The current form requires at least 8 characters.
  7. Click Create User.
  8. Wait for the app to return you to /dashboard/admin/users.
  9. Confirm the new user appears in the table.

What should you verify on the list page?

The current Users page is the follow-up review screen. Confirm the new row shows the right:

  • Name
  • Email
  • Role
  • Status
  • Last Login

What if something looks wrong?

"The email is rejected even though it looks valid"

Why this happens: The current create flow requires a valid email and checks for an existing account with the same email.

Fix: Correct the address if it is malformed. If the address is valid, assume the account may already exist and review the user list before trying again.

"I need to create a Partner user"

Why this happens: The current Users list can display Partner, but the visible New User form does not offer Partner in the role select.

Fix: Do not document Partner as a create option from this screen unless the form changes.
